Slumdog Millionaire – Sound & Music

14 Dez

Song/sound/motif

–          the soundtrack of a film is very important because it connects the atmosphere

–          “slumdog millionaire”: often uses typical Indian music, it means oriental sound: shows the Indian music and culture, the viewer feels like in India,

–          when the children are outside on the street: in the background you hear cars and buses: shows that there is a lot of traffic, like in a big city

–          when the police comes and wants to catch  the children, the viewer can hear a sound of drums: creates suspense

–          when the children are on the rubbish tip: you just see the rubbish and the sound of rubbish when the children search something to eat, there are also some birds in the background which also are looking for something to eat: children like animals (both of them have to search something to eat that they can survive)

–          in comparison to the situation when the children are in the “camp” in the forest: there is silence, and you just hear some birds in the background (maybe like in a jungle): the camp is far away from the city, the children are alone and stand on their own

–  All in all you see that the soundtrack of a film is very important because it underlines the effect and the suspense of a situation in the film. If you only see the pictures or the scene without a soundtrack or the adapted noise it wouldn’t be so interesting because the suspense would be missing.

It is also important that the song is adapted to the situation. For example if somebody dies the song will be sad to show the sorrow.
